Description: ocarina-type instrument, with seven fingerholes in two rows (3 + 4), made from a thick taproot, with one of the branch roots serving as a handle to the scoop hollowed out in the taproot

Sound compass, tuning: diatonic, major scale; the range of two octaves may be achieved with the use of overblowing; the player may produce chromatic sounds using the piper's grip (which is rare in folk performance practice); a flute's tone and tuning depends on the layout of fingerholes, the instrument's size and precision of its execution
Performance practice: musical instrument combined with a scoop, the maker's innovation perhaps drawing on shepherd traditions
